Think of this as a high speed replacement for the ‘Superbill’ that most practices now have. Each ‘window’ is the equivalent of a section of the paper form, except more can be available than would fit on a page, rules can be applied, the chart is updated and billing accomplished – all in a couple of keystrokes!
All of the Diagnosis and Procedure Codes that are appropriate for the practice are in the system. They are retrieved and presented in windows with the most-used ones first.
The doctor or nurse can ‘point’ to the description, and the code will be entered. DOCTORS DO NOT NEED TO KNOW ANY CODES IN THIS SYSTEM.
Key in a letter that equates to a section of your old encounter form, or a body part (shoulder), or some other grouping that is logical to you. The list will display the items defined by the practice.
When you find the correct diagnosis, click on the description with the mouse. This is called a ‘point and shoot’ approach. The doctor does not need to know the code that will be passed to the billing system (although it appears on the right). When you click the SAVE button the selected diagnosis code will be entered into the next available Diagnosis Code box on the Office Billing screen.
